Vote For Michael Clack

My Bio

I didn't wake up one morning and decide to run for State Representative. This campaign was built over decades of serving the people of Flint. As a teacher, former President and Vice President of the Flint Board of Education, nonprofit director, mentor, and lifelong resident, I've had a front-row seat to both the resilience of our community and the failures of government. I've met parents working two jobs who still struggle to provide for their families, seniors forced to choose between medication and utilities, and young people who wonder if they'll have to leave Flint just to build a future. Those conversations weren't statistics—they were the breaking point that convinced me we deserve stronger representation.

I'm running because I believe the 70th District can do better. We need an economy that creates good-paying jobs, supports small businesses, and attracts investment without leaving residents behind. We need safer neighborhoods through smart public safety policies, stronger schools that prepare students for careers, and a government that is transparent, accountable, and accessible. I don't believe public service is about holding a title; it's about solving problems. My entire career has been dedicated to serving this community, and I'm ready to take that same commitment to Lansing to fight for the people who have always been my priority.

My Key Issues

Economic Development & Job Creation

As I look at the future of Flint, my focus is on building an economy that works for everyone right here in our community. I am committed to actively recruiting new employers and manufacturers to our city, bringing good-paying jobs back to our neighborhoods. At the same time, we must support our local small businesses and entrepreneurs who are the backbone of our economy. When major new developments do come to town, I will require Community Benefits Agreements to ensure our residents truly see the rewards of that growth. Finally, I will work to expand workforce development and skilled trades programs, giving our people the tools and training they need to succeed. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Flint.

Public Safety & Crime Reduction

As your candidate, my absolute priority is ensuring that our families feel safe and supported in our own neighborhoods. To truly address public safety and reduce crime, we need a comprehensive, common-sense approach. First, I will work to increase support and resources for our law enforcement officers so they can do their jobs safely and effectively. But we also have to stop crime before it starts. That is why I am committed to investing in violence prevention and youth intervention programs to give our young people better paths forward. I will also work to strengthen our witness protection efforts, ensuring that neighbors who stand up for our community are protected. Finally, we must tackle the root causes of these challenges by significantly improving our mental health and addiction services. Together, we can build a safer, stronger community for everyone.

Education

As your candidate, my focus is on delivering the quality education our children and our community deserve. I am committed to increasing funding for our public schools, starting with raising pay for our dedicated teachers and school employees who support our kids every single day. But a strong education is about more than just the classroom. I will work to expand career and technical education, and restore vital programs like driver's education and skilled trades training to prepare our students for real-world success. Finally, we must invest in early childhood education to give every child a strong start from day one. Together, we can build a stronger foundation for our families and our future.

Infrastructure

When I look at our community, I see our shared future, and that starts with a strong foundation. If elected, I am committed to focusing on the essential infrastructure we all rely on every single day. I will work to repair our aging roads and bridges to keep our families moving safely. We must modernize our water and sewer systems to protect our health and secure our future. I will also focus on improving our public transportation to better connect our neighborhoods, and expanding broadband and utility access so no one is left behind in today's world. These aren't political issues; they are the basic building blocks of our daily lives. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work on these practical solutions for all of us.

Affordable Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization

Every family deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. That is why I am committed to increasing affordable housing opportunities right here in our community. We must focus on reducing blight and actively revitalizing our neighborhoods so that every street is a place we can be proud of. This is about supporting our neighbors at every stage of life. I will work to help first-time homebuyers plant their roots and build a future here, while also ensuring our cherished seniors have the support they need to age in place safely in the homes they love. Together, we can revitalize our neighborhoods and build a stronger community for everyone.
